I'm now on day three of my "back to the internet" life. I think I'm doing pretty good. If I looked better right now, I'd probably make a video…on second thought, I might make a video anyway :) Here's my list of things I have to do to get back on the internet.
1. post to xanga at least once every two days
2. figure out and make a new video on the same day each week
3. post to dailybooth every single day
I started my new job today at the pawn shop. I worked almost 12 hours today, which means running around and standing on concrete floors all day KILLED my feet. I was wearing my Nikes and even still, my feet are killing me. But the pay is definitely worth it. When I got there this morning, I started off the day just taking tours and learning where all of the locations for storing items were so that I could at least pull stuff and bring it to the front or take it to the back and put it in the correct place. After that, I started learning how to work the controls on the computers. It's an old system and you have to use all of the "function" controls (F12, etc) and getting used to that again is really annoying. When I worked for Pizza Hut back in the day, it used to be the same way with the function keys. Then, the systems got updated and we moved to touch screens with fingerprint identification. So then, my manager gave me a list of all the things that needed to be looked up and made sure they were still there, and again, I kept learning the locations. I also got to do a display of power tools, pulling items that needed to be marked down and then re-arranging the items into a display case in an attractive manner. After I got all of that done, I went to lunch with my roommate at Chick-fil-a and bought a shirt to change into at Rue 21. I don't have my work shirts in yet, so I wore a thin, long sleeved shirt to work…not the best idea. It was like 82 degrees today! So on my lunch break I got a t-shirt to change into and I'll have it for tomorrow too. When I got back from taking lunch I did a few pawns, one buy and a few payments on layaways. I did have to have help while I was doing it, and the only reason I got so nervous was because I didn't want to mess anything up in the computer. When my manager asked me why I was so nervous, and I told her…she was surprised. She figured I was nervous because there were so many people in the store because that's what usually makes new people nervous. I finally got to leave the store at around 8:15 pm because the customers were taking FOREVER to get out of the store.
After I got off work, I was really, really thirsty. So I go to WalMart and start walking through the produce section. Then I decided that I was going to do a sort of "fruit detox". I'm not going hardcore at it because I can't live without meat, but I did buy a lot of pineapple and a huge bowl of mixed fruit that I'm going to take to work with me tomorrow to snack on throughout the day, a 24 pack of water, and some pretzel thins. For supper tonight, I had a large container of pineapple with a handful of pretzel crisps and I have to say that I am full. I am still a bad girl because I'm drinking a Pepsi with my supper. I needed a little sugar/caffeine boost after the long day that I had. But starting tomorrow, I'm going to drink tons of water. We don't have air conditioning in the pawn shop so I don't want to be dehydrated and if you've been watching the weather from the country view…down south, we're having a massive heat wave and it was really hot to be the last day of winter.
Right now I'm cuddling with my Ava on the couch and we're waiting on my roommate to get home from work. Since I don't have to be at work in the morning until 10:30, I decided I would try to wait up on her and see if she wants to do my little fruit detox too. I haven't exactly decided how long I was going to do the detox, but it might last all summer, since fruits and vegetables are an excellent source of water and good things for you. Hopefully I'll drop some weight too! Besides, chicken and fish are my favorite meats and rarely do I ever crave red meat (but when I do, it's a giant medium rare steak). I think I'm going to go lay down now and watch The Devil Wears Prada. Excellent movie by the way, I highly recommend it :)
Hugs and kisses,
Courtney
